On Saturday 24th March at 8pm in the Church of the Three Patrons, Jubilate choir, Jubilate ensemble, and conductor Amy Ryan, will perform Carl Heinrich Graun’s Passion: Der Tod Jesu (The death of Jesus).
This Passion, described by conductor Amy Ryan as “an exquisite gem of the eighteenth-century repertoire”, was extremely popular in the 18th Century. Following its premiere in 1755, the work enjoyed close to a century of annual Good-Friday performances at the Berlin court. It is once again gaining considerable international interest and attention, as is this upcoming Irish premiere performance.
Tickets (€20) will be available at the door on the night, and from the website www.jubilate.ie.
The choir is known to the parish, having last performed Mozart: Requiem and Coronation Mass in the Church in May 2017.
Choir practices are held in the parish hall, adjacent to the Church. The choir is very appreciative of the support of the Church and parishioners to date, and encourages all who are free to attend this premiere concert.
