The Essence of the Sacraments

Sacraments are a celebration of the life of faith of the members of the Christian community.

Role in our Lives

The Sacraments are a celebration of God’s presence with us.

Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation celebrate our personal relationship, through Christ, with God and the Christian community.

Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick celebrate the experience of the healing power of God in a person’s life.

Matrimony and Priesthood celebrate the callings to love and serve.

Rathgar Parish does not have a Catholic Parish School. Programmes of Sacramental preparation are organised, by parents, who set up a religious instruction committee in each school. The specific preparation arrangements are set out under each sacrament.

The following schools in the parish have catholic religious instruction committees:

  • Rathgar Junior (Quaker) 62 Grosvenor Road; Tel: 4972411.
  • Rathgar National School (Methodist), Rathgar Avenue; Tel: 4907661.
  • Kildare Place School (Church of Ireland) Upper Rathmines Road; Tel: 4065466
  • St Peter’s, (Catholic)St. John of God, Lucena Clinic, Orwell Road; Tel: 4923596.

How to Prepare, Participate, Give
